"Reiki is the way of life that I have always been seeking: a life dedicated to harmony, wholeness, integrity and peace. The five principles of Reiki are, for me, the final synthesis of 'how to' live. They are a guide for living that works. In all situations. They are simple and clear. The Five Principles
For years I have carried around a little novelty picture of a long road heading to a sunrise with an old jalopy making it's way towards an unseen destination. At the bottom is a quote from Dag Hammarskjold. The quote reads, "How long the road is. But, for all the time the journey has already taken, how you have needed every second of it in order to learn what the road passes by." I always thought it just a nice sentiment, touching and enigmatic. Today I understand every atom of its expression. A return to simplicity has meant a new life for me, a clearer understanding of what people should be to each other, and a renewed celebration of our creator in all its forms.
My Reiki practice is quite selfish. The more that I am able to give, the more I receive. I receive from Reiki the gift of being with others in their struggle, and through that struggle, learn how to love and respect myself better. I receive from Reiki the gift of teaching others so that I may learn many things I do not know. I receive from Reiki the gift of relaxation so that I can truly reflect on how tense the world has become. I receive from Reiki a connection to 'our creator' so strong that I know you are truly all part of me and that you always have a space for me in your hearts. I receive from Reiki a belief about self-healing that tells me every day miracles are always present if we look, cherish and care. I could go on forever. The gifts are innumerable.
All healing is self healing.
